As one of Al Rajhi Bank’s social responsibility initiatives in 2018, and in cooperation with the Charity Association (Ita'am), a number of the bank’s employees in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam participated in the making of meal boxes and distributing surplus food to the needy. The employees visited the charity’s headquarters in the three cities, where officials explained to them the charity’s activities, and the mechanism of their voluntary contributions. Afterwards, the employees helped the charity team to make meal boxes and distribute them amongst the people in need.

The volunteers from the bank expressed their happiness and joy to be a part of this noble work and expressed their appreciation of the activities carried out by Ita’am. They said that they’re ready and keen on participating in those activities anytime, be it making the meal boxes or delivering them to the needy in their houses. This stems from the employees’ belief in the importance of such solidarity and cooperation to preserve the blessing of food, making the best of it, and making sure it gets to those in need in the best quality possible.

It is worth noting that Ita’am is a non-profit organization specialized in food preservation. Its mission is to preserve the blessing of food by applying the idea of food banks in Saudi Arabia in a professional manner while maintaining the privacy of the community and the beneficiaries. The charity has preserved more than a million and three hundred and fifty meals, offered to more than twenty thousand beneficiaries in 2018 alone.

Al Rajhi Banks’s efforts in the voluntary realm come in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims at reaching one million volunteers by 2030. These initiatives also comply with the nature of Saudi society and its culture, which encourage cooperation and solidarity in activities that serve the public interest. The participation of the bank in the Ita’am initiative falls under Al Rajhi’s activities of social responsibility and volunteerism in 2018 and is considered one of the many programs adopted throughout the year to serve most of the society segments around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
