Within the framework of Al Rajhi Bank's 2016 strategy to promote the participation of its employees in voluntary activities, 1,566 of its staff carried out 7,269 hours of voluntary work during the first half of this year. Amongst the volunteering employees, 1,320 were male and 246 were female employees.
Since its inception, the bank has been carrying out major projects with universities, hospitals, specialized societies and charities through many initiatives which made the bank’s employees express a growing desire to offer their efforts, time and expertise to serve their society and country. That’s why the process of volunteering has officially been embedded in the bank's system until it became an essential feature of the bank’s culture, and today it is one of the advantages of working in the bank. This is a result of the volunteering culture and practices carried out by the employees and their families to help their society.
The figures show a remarkable increase in the number of male and female volunteers during the years 2016 and 2017 and the first half of 2018, as the number of volunteers at the end of 2016 reached 600 performing 1,650 hours of voluntary work and by the end of 2017, the number of volunteers jumped to 1,634 volunteers performing 5,753 hours of voluntary work. As for the first half of 2018, the number of voluntary hours performed by the employees surpassed the hours spent in the entire previous year.
Al Rajhi Bank has been keen on diversifying the beneficiaries of the voluntary initiatives by offering support to the disabled, orphans, poor, blind and individuals with special needs, in addition to supporting educational programs. The bank was also keen on actively participating in various international health days to spread awareness in the society.
It’s worth mentioning that the bank has always worked on strengthening the ties between its employees and the society through adopting a number of national programs and initiatives which were highly successful, by Allah’s blessing. During the past few years, the bank has developed the concept of volunteering to get the employees to participate, motivated by the fact that the relationship between the employees of the bank and the community is an integral part of the relationship between the bank and the community. In addition, the bank carries out a lot of its voluntary activities in pursuit of achieving the goals and objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims at having 1 million volunteers by year 2030.
